Fair Time!!

Yesterday, the girls and I went to the Malheur County fair in Ontario. The girls had a great time walking around, looking at animals, eating cotton candy, etc. Sarah saw a kid with a smokey the bear bracelet and wondered where he got it. We went looking and found the smokey the bear booth. The guy was very nice and said, I'll ask you some questions and then I'll give you some goodies because I know you are sooooo smart.

Question #1
Man: Do you play with matches?
Sarah: ....silence......YES
Man: NOOOO, you should never play with matches.

Question #2
Man: What do you do when you find matches laying around?? Do you give them to an adult?
Sarah: ....silence.....NO...I'll keep them.
Man: YES, you should give them to an adult.

Question #3
Man: If you see other kids playing with matches, should you tell and adult?
Sarah:....silence...thinking....NO
Man: YES, you should tell your mom or dad because they could start a fire.

About this time, my face was bright red...buring...trying not to laugh and be embarrassed at the same time. He then tells Sarah that she has to promise to never play with fire or matches and to tell a grown up if she sees others doing it. Sarah: OK, I will. By then, I was too afraid to let Sabrina answer the questions. When we got home, we started going through the bag of stuff he gave us. My only thoughts were, I need to educate my kids on fire I guess. Much to my surprise, all the stuff he gave us was in SPANISH...yes you read that right...spanish. Ok, Sarah is dark, but she doesn't speak spanish...PUUUU-LEASE people. So much for educating my kids on smokey the bear!!

Utah fun!

We arrived in SLC from Brazil on Friday afternoon and spent the week with LaNae. My sister, Holly and her kids surprised me at the airport in SLC. I had no idea they were going to be there when I arrived. It was the best surprise ever! We all crashed at LaNae's house in Provo. She was so nice to let us all stay there. She came up from Arizona to be with us. When I got there, the only thing I could think of was to shower and start doing laundry! I had 2 weeks of dirty clothes to wash! We ate dinner and all crashed. We got up early to go to the 4th of July parade. We found Luke and Julliana along the parade route and sat with them. After, we made lunch and hung around LaNae's house. We went to the park next to her house to watch the Stadium on Fire fireworks. Sunday, we went to church and then to Luke's house in Spanish Fork for a nice BBQ. My mom met us there and we all had a great time. We had great food, games, and karaoke of course!! Monday, we (Holly's family, Luke's family, LaNae's girls, my family, and my mom) spent the day at Lagoon. It was fun to watch the cousins playing together. The older kids were able to go off on their own and ride together. I think we all had a great time and were totally ready to crash when we got home! Tuesday, LaNae and her girls, myself and my girls, and my mom went to Hogle Zoo. It was fun to see the animals and watch the girls have fun together. Wednesday, we were able to go to Orriqurah (how ever you spell it!!) Temple open house. It was amazing! My girls loved it and walked through the temple quietly, taking it all in. Afterwards, LaNae packed up her car and left for Arizona as she had a birthday party and family reunion on the Yates side. We stayed and cleaned up the house for her and left on Thursday morning! It was a fun week with my family. Now I am ready to crash after 3 weeks of little sleep and running 100 mph!!

We're Back!!

We had a quite the adventure getting to Brazil this time. We arrived at the airport in SLC to find out our plane was being worked on for the same problem as the Air France plane that went down. That was a little nerve wracking. We sat there and waited as they kept saying only 30 more minutes, 15 more minutes, 45 minutes we will be leaving for sure...etc. We were suppose to leave at 8:35 a.m. Our plane finally departed at noon. That meant we missed our connecting flight to Manaus that left at 5:oo p.m. from Atlanta. We were then told we would fly from Atlanta to Sao Paulo then Manaus and that we were leaving that night at 9:20! Great - at least we would be leaving! We went to the gate, and found out that NO, we weren't leaving that night and that we were on standby and that the plane was already over-booked. We waited and waited hoping there might be a slight chance of getting on. NOPE. We were then put up in a hotel by Delta. It was nice but to think we should have already been in Brazil having fun and we were still stuck in an airport was a little overwelming. We had to check out of the hotel by noon and our flight didnt' leave until 9:20 pm. What a LONG day chasing 2 kids around the Atlanta airport! Finally we got on, and headed to Sao Paulo. We arrived, got our luggage and found out we were missing 1 bag. GREAT. No clothes for Sabrina! We didn't have much time, so we hurried and checked in and went to the gate. We had about 45 minutes before the plane was scheduled to take off when Naldo realized he didn't have his wallet. It had fallen out of his pocket on the flight to Sao Paulo and when he stood up, he threw his blanket on the seat and covered it up most likely. There was no time to go asking for it or he would have missed the flight to Manaus. We went ahead and got on the flight. We arrived in Manaus and Naldo decided he would stay in Manaus to find out about his wallet and lost bag and I went on to Itacoatiara (3 hours away) with the girls. I checked into the hotel with the girls, ate dinner quickly, took the girls to see their grandparents quickly and went to bed after a long 3 days of traveling! Naldo found out he wasn't going to be able to get the bags until friday or saturday so he got a taxi in the middle of the night and came to Itacoatiara. He arrived around 3:00 am.

The next day , the girls were so excited to see their grandparents, they got up early and wanted to go! Most of the days were spent there. One day, we did rent a boat and go fishing for piranhas. We did well. We kept 40 piranhas and 2 catfish. We did let some piranhas go that were small. Other than that, we spent a lot of time riding motorcycles, eating, playing with the kittens, and visiting with friends. It was a nice time to relax and enjoy ourselves with people we love.
